I think I would rather have given 3 and a half stars for this as the hotel is actually quite pleasant and our one night experience may not be a fair way of assessing the hotel. It was slightly frustrating because directions were not great, the satnav didn't take us anywhere near where we wanted to be and while the trip from Fiumicino took 40 minutes it took us anothe hour to find the hotel! The fact we arrived in the dark probably didn't help. We called reception for help but were given a blow by blow route from Rome. Despite this shaky start things did get better! If only we'd been told to look for the tree with the lights wrapped round it we would have found it much more easily!
Reception
Friendly and helpful. The promised aperitif did not happen but that was OK. We were given some very interesting booklets about the surrounding area which was very useful.
Room
In the annexe and short distance from reception. Quiet, pleasant and comfortable. The bathroom looked a little dated in its fixtures but was clean.
Food
We booked in at the restuarant for food - it was Saturday night and only 2 other couples were in there. There was no background music and the atmosphere was a little cold. We were actually dissuaded from our choice of food which was perhaps a mistake as the portion size was typically small. Food was lesser quality than I would have expected but still edible. The bill was huge in proprtion to the quality of te food and in all the hitels we stayed in was the least good value for money.
Location
Quite a way outside of Sutri, but a convenient drive from Rome airport. Comparatively this was one of the more expensive hotels we stayed in. Not a bad starting point for our trip around Tuscany
