A great hideaway in the hills above Lake Como. I had read it was difficult to find but there were plenty of signs if you watched out for them - possibly a bit tricky in the dark.
Well worth the drive up into the hills - quiet, restful location with stunning views. Food a little pricey, but not outrageous and certainly delicious. Staff friendly and welcoming. Our room was pretty tiny but very characterful, and in this setting who wants to hang out in their room anyway? Lots of places to sit out and watch the sunset.

I first visited Al Marnich in 2009 with my aunt and husband. It was lovely. Rustic and quiet. The food is really quite phenomenal. I highly recommend eating dinner here. One reason they offer dinner is that the road (as others have aptly put) off the beaten track and it would be quite a long journey to a restaurant and back. The price is right, the people are absolutely wonderful. Perfect to explore the Como area or just go hiking right from the agriturismo. I will come back. Only one caveat: if you bring a dog, he is welcome but the price is much higher than other hotels. Most places charge 5-10 euro for a dog, it is 15 here. But, I will come back for the views and the food again. This year I visited with my mom and she had a hard time sleeping with the roosters crowing. I recommend ear plugs if you are a light sleeper.

I cant say anything about the hotel yet, becauce I had to cancel my booking. But I wanted you to know, that they made it possible to cancel even I was to late for a free cancelation by the conditions of hotel.de, where I booked it.

While I read extremely good experience reports about the hotel I really pitty that I couldnt vistit it this time - but the service is very convincing; so I´m sure I´ll stay there someday.

We very much wanted to write a positive review about this place as it really is fantastic. We know, however, that these things don't get done when one is back home. Hence, I'm writing this sitting at the dinner table, digesting yet another fabulous meal, looking forward to another 4 days and nights on Lake Como.
We can highly recommend Al Marnich for those seeking peace and quiet accompanied by a truely charming rustic backdrop. Our dog was welcome here and we've thoroughly enjoyed a consistently friendly service from the owner and his staff. You need a car here and negotiating the winding roads can be a bit tiring. We've definitely found relaxation here which was long overdue...
