“Great Value for Your Money”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 June 2009

Coming from Milan where everything was expensive. I had little expectations about my hotel reservation at Omegna. Fortunately I was mistaken.
My budget was tight so I made reservation for 50 Euros a night, I never expected to find (specially after the hotels I had to deal with in Genoa and Milan) a 3 star hotel, with friendly managers and staff, and a comfortable room, very clean very tidy, and with a fantastic view. This was my first time during my stay in Italy that I felt welcome and treated as a valued customer.
Kudos for Adriano, the manager who I found very polite. I think he is doing a hell of a job. I found the restaurant very elegant, the food was always delicious.Wine and food was at affordable prices. The waiter was also courteous and helpful, he didn't speak any english, but that granted me the chance to practice my Italian, so I was very happy about that.
On the negative note I have to agree with some other reviewers, that the area gets quite noisy in the evenings, and my room was located right in front of a very noisy pub. On top of that the TV volume was set so you couldn't go loud enough, and that was a major inconvenience, particularly when even with the windows shut you still hear some of the noise from across the street

“Good Choice”

Arrived late afternoon in Omegna with no reservations. Walked in to this 3 star property & was offered room # 72 for 70 Euros double with breakfast. Lucky break at that price. Top floor 2 room suite with biggest bathroom we had in Italy, with separate shower & tub. Best part was that both rooms had large sliding glass doors that opened to a big private balcony with tables & chairs, & complete view of the historic old town waterfront & lake front. Easy 5 minute walk anywhere in the old town center, & easy street parking, though only free on weekends & at night. Fair breakfast, but consider it one of the few bargains we found in Italy. Would stay there again in a heartbeat. English speaking staff & TV channels. Was not aware of any internet.

“a pleasant stay in general but didn't like the guy at reception”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 November 2008

We travelled to Lake Orta in late November. We had a car and decided to stay in Omegna instead of the pedestranised Orta San Giulio.

The hotel was just on tip of the lake next to a bridge, and our room on the 2F had a nice view of the lake on the left handside and the streets and buildings on the right. We thought it was quite nice but later found that it's a bit noisy in the evening and the morning with the cars passing by just under our windows. We asked one of the hotel owners Adriano was a bit impatient with our questions (such as where we could park for free, what time the hotel's restaurant opens, if there's a menu we could have a look, if there's an English-speaking channel on the TV, and some italian phrases we saw in the street and would like to know what they mean), so at this point when we asked him if there's a quieter room that we could swtich to, he gave us a cold shoulder without explaining further -- later from another guy at the reception we learned that all the rooms face the streets (main and side).

Apart from this, our stay in this hotel was okay. The hotel, compared with the other places we stayed for this trip, was a bit old-fashioned, room was simple yet clean. Strangely they have BBC1 on TV -- the only English channel, but on the 2nd night the signal was gone so effectively it's 7 or 8 Italian channels, 1 French and 1 or 2 German.

The time we visited was the very low season and there weren't many options in terms of restaurants -- something we didn't expect. The menu of the hotel's restaurant looks alright and we thought if we had chosen their half-board booking it would've been quite good for value. We in the end had dinners at a small bar/restaurant place just 1 min walk from the hotel and settled for some pizzas and seafood spaghetti for equally good value.

The breakfast provided by the hotel was just sufficient, including crossaints, bread, cakes, cereals etc.

A last note about the parking. The closest free parking place to the hotel was on the west side of the lake for about 2-300 metres away between 6pm-8am. Look for the parking space painted in white! Those painted in blues are for restricted parking.

“good value for not so much money”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 April 2008

We stayed at croce bianca for one night and joined even the restaurant. the rooms are simple, like often in italy but clean. For one or two nights it is really o.k.
Service, Restaurant really nice.
If you plan a round trip, visit omegna on a Thursday. The market (along along the lake) is fantastic!
Unfortunately it was closed Dec 2007 otherwise we would have gone there again. It is much, much cheaper than Orta San Giulio
