I've stayed before. It was a couple of years ago, and it was one of those visits that left little impression; neutral and slightly cold. A bit like a trip on a National Express coach, gets it done adequately but something you'd probably have given a miss. The room then was the disabled friendly one on the ground floor, the dinner was bearable and the service a bit surly and short.
The Woodhall Spa Hotel was full so i resigned myself to another trip to British hotel standards circa 1979 and checked in.
Much friendlier this time, and I was given the griffiths room on the first floor. Easily superior with a nice sofa and big flat screen with Freeview. There must have been a well needed investment in the rooms.
Looking at the food reviews done recently I once again braced myself. I can't speak for any of the other options but my sirloin steak was one of the best all year. And served with a nice blue cheese sauce, it's highly recommend. The bar staff although young were friendly and knowledgeable on the menu and drinks.
After a sound nights sleep breakfast was relaxed and well arranged, and check out smooth.
The furniture in the public rooms is still an odd crowded miss match, the decor is eclectic and don't expect a hotel service but all in all, yes I Would stay again without an 'oh no'. The other reviews just make me hesitant, was I staying on an exceptional night and just lucky? Who knows, just don't hold me responsible!
