My partner and I stayed here for 3 nights at the begining of June. The B & B is a very pretty thatched cottage in a wonderful location, close to Branscombe beach and the coastal footpath, and surrounded by wonderful countryside. Very clean and attractive rooms with exposed stone walls. There is also a lovely lounge and dining area with an inglenook fireplace. The service was very good and you had the option of either a continental or english breakfast. Whilst the English breakfast was very nice I did feel the portions were rather small.
Whilst we had a very enjoyable stay, there is one thing I would like to comment on. The door to our room was very low and the moment we arrived I hit my head very hard on the top of the door. I am of average height, 5,10" and you would think that after hitting my head once I would of learnt my lesson and not done it again....not so. I must of hit my head at least half a dozen times. At first I couldn't work out why I kept hitting my head when I was ducking each time to go under the door. Then one day whilst standing outside the door looking down at the floor, the penny dropped...the bedroom floor is actually higher than the floor in the halway. There is very small step, maybe 1 and half to 2 inches high but as it is covered in carpet it is not obvious. Naturally the brain can only compensate for things it is aware of and therefore when I was ducking I was not ducking enough to allow for the small step. Guess what, once I realised this I never hit my head again. Now I'm not normally one for complaining, but this door is plain dangerous. After day 2 I head a very sore head. I did mention this to the owner Amanda, and suggested she put a 'mind your head sign' above the door and point out there is a small step to her customers. It will be very interesting to see if Amanda does anything about it. I do hope so because she runs a wonderful B & B but the door is clearly a hazard.
Sore head aside, we had a wonderful stay and would highly recommend Great Seaside B & B.
