My husband and I stayed at Vento di Rose for a week at the end of October following a recommendation from a family member who had stayed there and loved it. Wow were we glad that we did! We were shown to our room by Emidio, who with his wife Emanuela own Vento di Rose. The room was spacious and charming and had it's own entrance to outside, which we really liked for the privacy! Emidio asked if we'd like some wine (who could say no?!) and then brought us a bottle of locally made red wine and couple of wine glasses. We immediately felt right at home.
The next morning we were amazed by the breakfast- Emidio kept bringing out more and more plates of homemade and locally sourced treats, from fresh juices, cafe latte and pastries to dried sausages to thin crispy eggplant slices with cherry tomatoes on top! The breakfast changed every morning, but was always more than we could ever eat in one sitting. Fortunately, they had set up a picnic basket station with everything we needed to wrap up our leftovers, so we only had to pay for one meal (dinner) every day! When we told Emidio that we were really interested in local foods and farming, he directed us to (and sometimes even took us on) tours to see olive oil, wool, and vino cotto (a local cooked wine) being made- we could not have asked for more! He also made us reservations for dinner for us at a local restaurant without any signage that we never would have known was there, where we had one of the best meals of our lives! (Ask Emidio or Emanuela to make reservations at Sergio's restaurant- you will not regret it!!!) After our daily adventures, we were happy to settle back in to our room with it's comfortable bed, or sit and read at one of the many outdoor sitting areas around Vento di Rose with great views of medieval hill towns and rolling farm land... Ah...:)
After 4 nights in Tuscany (San Gimignano and Montepulciano), we were so thrilled to have this more authentic experience off the beaten path in Marche. My husband and I agreed that if we had it to do again, we would have spent even more time in Marche rather than Tuscany, but this was mainly because of Emidio and Emanuela and their incredible oasis at Vento di Rose. We would recommend it without reservation to anyone looking for an incredibly relaxing vacation while soaking in all of the culture and delicious food that Italy has to offer!
