It was fortunate that I had emailed Mr. Oto, the GM, prior to our arrival. I would have taken the train to Odawara, but Mr. Oto informed me that our arrival day was a national holiday and that the Odawara shuttle would not be operating. He suggested that we take the train to Nebukawa. Knowing that Nebukawa did not have escalators, I asked the hotel to meet us on the train platform to help carry our luggage up the flight of stairs. A very pleasant hotel staff member was waiting for us when we got off the train. Very impressive service!
After checking into our room on the 11th floor, we explored the grounds (the wedding chapel, the walking trail, the tennis courts). We then went to the bade where we frolicked for almost two hours. As we opened the doors to wade from the indoor to the outside area, a gentle rain began to fall. It was so relaxing to soak in the warm water as cold rain droplets fell on my face.
After the bade, we moved on to the onsen (natural hot springs). Then, it was on to the Relaxation Room. There were a group of chairs with soothing music. There were also three chairs with a slight vibration. We never did figure out the purpose of these three chairs. Finally, we moved on to the massage chairs where we got a very vigorous back massage.
We did not try any of the other facilities - karaoke rooms, bowling alley, arcade. Aside for breakfast (quite abundant), we did not have any meals during our one night stay. The hotel provided a complimentary tray of fresh fruit (oranges, asian pear, persimmon, kiwi, banana) and an assortment of desserts (including two very good French macarons). With the water activities and the massage, I got very sleepy and never got around to dinner.
That night the wind howled and woke us up. I thought we were in the middle of a typhoon. Nonetheless, we slept well.
