“Fantastic quiet place to stay, a nice retreat from it all.”

We've stayed at Twitchen Farm many times over the past few years and have loved every stay. It's a nice quiet corner of Devon that we love to visit. The farm itself is lovely and spacious and it is so quiet and peacfull in Challacombe that we love to go there just to get away from the hustle and bustle of life. We have 2 dogs and we are always accomdated for. The dogs love to go there as there is always a field for them to run around in, or we can just head out over Exmoor for a trek. The rooms are comfortable and clean and and the whole place has a real charm to it. The breakfasts are delicious and filling and Jay and Helen are so friendly and helpfull, we love to have a good chat with them. The Black Venus Pub is our favorite place to eat at night, we look forwad to our dinners there as everything tastes good and fresh.

Whether you like to walk, surf, horse back ride or just find some peace and quiet this is a great place to base yourself. We will definitely keep going back!

Room Tip: All the rooms are great, Helen and Jay will choose one that best suits your needs.

“Ideal location for all outdoor activities.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 September 2011

A very pleasant and quiet retreat, ideal for all types of walking and horse treking also a short drive to many resorts along the Devon and Cornwall coastline. The owners of Twitchens are very helpful and informative about all the things you want to know regarding local activities the breakfast every morning is varied acording to your personal tastes.

Room Tip: Pay the extra for an upstairs room to the front, fantastic views.

“Comfort and sanity - far from the madding crowd”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 August 2011

A very friendy family run B & B. Thank you Jaye and Helen - we had a wonderful stay. Comfortable and spacious room, freedom of the fields around the farm and we loved the field walk to the Black Venus pub. Great breakfast set us up for some good walks - on the moor (Exmoor) and along the coast near Lynton.

We will be back - with our grandchildren - they will love it!

Room Tip: If you want a big room (the cheapest?) good for muddy boots and dog - Moles Chamber. For views - C...

“We'll definately be back”

We've been to Twitchen Farm a couple of times now and find it to be one of the most relaxing and friendly places that we have ever been to. We are always given a warm welcome and nothing seems to be too much of a problem for our hosts, who thankfully are also walking encyclopaedias and ordnance survey maps of the area!! Very handy when you know nothing of the area yourself and need advice on where to go and what to do.

We have a toddler and a dog and both are well and most importantly, safely accomodated here. They both love it. The rooms are of a more than generous size, the facilities great and the surrounding views are stunning as are the nearby walks. There is a nearby country pub within walking distance, which sells great food and drink.

If you want to truly absorb life on exmoor, I couldn't recommend a better place to stay. We'll be back.

“Good locale but still looking tired”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 August 2011

Have stayed here twice now over a period of 4 years. Nothing had changed. The room is exactly the same & still looks tired. Bathroom door would not lock & now smells slightly as if drains are blocked or possibly from damp
The breakfast is ok although to my mind a cooked breakfast should come with a least 2 sausages & two rashers of bacon.
Maybe it's just me but I feel there is no atmosphere.
