Before planning this trip we were looking for a lodge on the beach, so we found Manta Ray as this was advertised but when we got there the B&B was a 3 minute walk from the beach, and was facing a field.
The rooms were comfortable with great decor. However the two rooms share 1 bathroom, so if you are staying there whilst there are other guests, you will be sharing the same vicinty. Not ideal especially if you are honey mooners. The owners are very nice and gracious and willing to help. I do however advise that you rent a vehicle if you are new to the area so you can move around freely. Newell beach is a 20-30min drive from Port Douglas, where most of the restaurants are.
I did however enjoy the 2 nights stay there.

Manta Ray is just perfect! A tranquil setting just a stone-throw from the beach and very close to Daintree National Park . Tasteful Balinese-style decor, impeccalble rooms, delicious breakfasts, great advise for excursions - Ann and Fernando made us really feel at home - for us it is definitely the number 1 Bed and Breakfast in Newell Beach - highly recommended!

My husband & I cannot say enough wonderful things about Anne & Fernando & our recent stay at the Manta Ray in Newell Beach. From our first moments with the owners, we felt very welcome. By the end of our stay, we felt like family to Anne & Fernando. It was very clear to us they love the area they live in & were both more than happy to help us each day with our plans.

Our guest rooms were absolutely immaculate, the beds were extremely comfortable, & we felt like we were staying in a 5-star resort. Anne made us the most delicious breakfast each morning & sitting outside was very comfortable & relaxing. Anne pointed out many birds each morning to our family. Fernando also kicked around the soccer ball with our kids & they loved that!

The location was perfect for us. Port Douglas is a short car ride away & it was nice for us to have the option to go to Port Douglas but escape back to the quietness of Newell Beach. Newell Beach could not be a more ideal location for all the nearby attractions, from snorkeling, to visiting Daintree, hiking at Mossman Gorge, & driving up to Cape Tribulation. The beach was beautiful & the park in Mossman was the perfect place for our young children to run off some energy.

We will definitely look forward to our next stay at Manta Ray!

This was the perfect place for us to de-stress. The bedroom was very comfortable with a romantic four poster bed and the bathroom was very spacious and stylishly decorated. With the lovely pool outside our door it was very easy to take a dip when we needed to cool off. It is a central location if you plan to tour this spectacular region and want a more personalised holiday experience. While we did go to Mossman Gorge one day, as Cairns locals we enjoyed lounging around the pool surrounded by lush gardens. Our hosts, Anne & Fernando, were gracious, generous and great company and the breakfasts were stunning. Anne is a great cook. We were looking for a quiet, tropical haven and this place exceeded all our expectations.
