We stopped here for one night only. This small budget hotel offers you soaps, towels, hot water and color TV with multiple channels alongside all the basic facilities. A dead intercom can also be added to the list.
Twin beds with clean bed sheets and blankets which I found quite itchy. Rooms are a bit damp - a common phenomenon for most of the budget accommodations across the hilly areas. We spotted a few mosquitoes in our room, so anti-mozzie stuff is needed.
The bathrooms do not have running hot water from the tap. If you want hot water, go to the reception downstairs and state your need. A little exercise for your heart courtesy the dead intercom in your room :) You will be supplied with a bucketful of hot water straight to your bathroom. Be careful with it as they only seem to supply boiling hot water. I almost fried my feet in two separate occasions when I used hot water directly from the bucket. Don’t forget to mix it with cold water from the tap before using.
There is a very large internet cafe in the hotel and most of your e-needs like printing, scanning can be met here. They also write memory card content into a DVD which comes handy if you are about to run out of memory card capacity for your camera.
The hotel does not have a restaurant. But there are plenty of restaurants nearby for all kind of budget options serving both veg and non-veg fare. Like one reviewer pointed out - the vegetarian restaurant at the MAS Lake Queen Hotel nearby offers good south Indian all-you-can-eat buffet lunch for just INR 70. A safer and cleaner option if you are unsure where to start.
There is no parking space in the hotel itself but the receptionist told us that free parking space is available. Earlier the hotel used to have an open common terrace which has now been entirely blocked by a wall constructed recently, adding to the damp.
We browsed through most of the spice shops in the market to get an idea. After much hesitation, we asked at the reception for a recommendation, as most of the hotels have a commission tie-up with the spice shops nearby. Much to our surprise, we were nonchalantly shown a shop named "Hill Top" beside the hotel which turned out to be offering one of the best rates. Really good quality spices there, recommended!
A very good budget hotel which offers a double bedded room with a few brownies throws in for a very reasonable rate of INR 350 per night.
