I already wasn't expecting much because of the reviews here, but surprisingly, we had a really nice stay.
We went for an overnight family trip the weekend before the Chinese New Year. The resort's lobby has a high ceiling and is fairly big and has a lot of couches. It opens to a veranda overlooking the big pools and the beach, so that part's very welcoming. Since there were lots of guests, they didn't check our bags so we went straight to the rooms after my mom checked us in. We were able to bring in snacks and drinks without any commotion. I saw a guest wanting to bring in two obvious bags of Jollibee take-out heading for the parking lots, so I think he was asked not to bring the food in. I suggest that guests just be very discreet about bringing in food items.
We stayed on one of the 1-bedroom suites in the south wing. There were 7 adults and one child in our party, and the room was enough for us mainly because of the size. There was a terrace, comfortable plush sofa and a window daybed (size comparable to a queen-size bed) in the living room there where was also a flatscreen TV. There was also a dining table, kitchenette (microwave, refrigerator, sink and electric kettle), and toilet room. My three brothers took over this area.
My husband and I with our 15-month old daughter...I already wasn't expecting much because of the reviews here, but surprisingly, we had a really nice stay.

My husband and I with our 15-month old daughter slept in the window daybed in the bedroom. My parents chose to sleep together in one double bed, so there was an extra double bed no one slept in. There was also a terrace in the bedroom. Bathroom had a shower stall and bathtub. Airconditioning was good, as well as the hot water. No bidet in the toilet though, and only four bath towels, so plan ahead. No bugs, chipping paint, or dirty sheets also, so I guess we were lucky as compared to some of the reviewers here. We asked for another roll of toilet paper and it was delivered to our room in less than a minute (we were on the 4th floor). No complaints about the cleanliness or the service from our stay.
Pools are big so it didn't feel crowded at all even if there were lots of guests. And water was lukewarm, which was good since the wind was cool. Beach towels are available (just bring the swimming passes issued with your room key). Lots of seats by the pool area and a few cabanas near the beach. Sand was a bit rocky with the dead corals, but water was clear and cool. Kayaks, jet skis, banana boats, and snorkeling and diving gear are available for rent. My daughter enjoyed frolicking in the kiddie pool and the sand-bottom playground. Pool service for short orders is available. There's also a bar with a videoke area overlooking the pool, near the veranda after the lobby.
We ate at Kainan sa Dalampasigan in the town for dinner. Taste and portions were satisfactory; just as if you ate at Dencio's or Gerry's in Manila, but the ambiance is old rustic antique. I was curious about the breakfast buffet in the hotel because of the reviews so we checked it out. For 300++ until 9am, you get rice, hotdogs, corned beef, omelette, tawilis (not fried but in some kind of thin clear sauce), and dinner rolls. Wow. My dad remarked, "We're here to enjoy. We won't enjoy that." We proceeded to Chowking and had a hearty breakfast with better variety.
Canyon Cove is a 5-min drive away from the town which has Mang Inasal, Chowking, Jollibee, Dunkin Donuts, Mister Donut, Mercury Drug, and 7-11. We'll be back, will just really plan to eat out. :)More
