“Excellent stay - nice hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 July 2010

Stayed here for just one night in June. The hotel was very quiet, we were treated very well, the room was excellent with everything we could wish for - including plenty of space. I don't usually sleep very well away from home - but did here. Breakfast couldn't be bettered. I would DEFINITELY stay here again on our way to Cornwall (now we know where to find it!).

“Value for Money”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 October 2008

This is not a place to stay if you want out and out luxury however it is the best place to stay for value for money, friendly staff, excellent breakfasts and good location. It is a small hotel, family run. The family room consisted of two rooms, both with en-suite. The rooms were small but clean and attractive. I gather the other rooms in the hotel are larger. The hotel is located in a cul-de-sac two minutes' walk from the centre of Launceston but beware, you need a sat nav or very good instructions to find it due to the maze of streets around the town centre. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, the staff went out of their way to make us feel at home and we would definitely stay there again.

“Good quality hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 October 2007

Stayed here for 2 nights, and got a good sized double bedroom on the second floor, with a side view of the castle.
The room had original beams, which were a good feature. There was a pretty low ceiling at one end of the bathroom but this wasn't a major problem.
The food was good quality - mainly a traditional British menu, but the food was always freshly prepared and hot.

“Lovely Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 April 2007

Launceston is a hidden gem in Cornwall, with not a lot of tourists. It was the capital of Cornwall at one time and has a lot of interesting buildings and is close to pretty countryside.

The Eagle House Hotel is a very grand Georgian building, which is professionally run and reasonably priced. The staff were courteous and helpful.

Their conference Centre (adjoining) seemed to be used by various clubs and societies (e.g. Civic Society) and hosted a lot of community events. It felt as if the place was a hub of the community (a good thing). (There was no noise from the event in progress when I stayed!).

My room was well appointed, clean and had all the facilities expected from a decent hotel. The breakfast was very good.
