“A Great Family Run Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 June 2011

I have being staying here on and off since 1998 and have always had a warm welcome and a comfortable stay no matter which room i was in and is very reasonably priced.
All the rooms are en-suite and are clean, attractive and tidy ranging from single, twins and doubles with all the facilities you would expect.
The breakfast is always good with lots to choose from and the staff are very friendly and helpful, it is located in a perfect location for exploring Launceston and the castle which is next to the hotel.
In the town centre there are restaraunts and bars ranging from Italian, indian, and bistros plus the usual shops and takeaways.
I would definetly recomend this hotel to any one staying in the area.

“Charmingly old-fashioned and good value.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 August 2010

We stayed at the Eagle House Hotel for three nights while visiting relations in the neighbourhood. The style of the hotel is very friendly and informal, the breakfasts are splendid and the evening meals extrmeely good value (and quality). To avoid disappointment, don't expect five-star services. Do however expect a cordial welcome in a charming old family house. The hotel hosts a lot of functions but these do not disturb your peace - be warned however that on function nights the dining room may not be open. If that is the case make a booking elsewhere in good time as Launceston is not heaviy endowed in good eating places. If you want to stay in this area we would wholeheartedly recommend this hotel.

“Comfortable but ready for a significant update”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 August 2010

Very warm welcome and we were shown to a lovely big room with antique -style furniture and large bathroom, complete with dark-coloured sunken bath - very eighties! Good views across the gardens to the countryside beyond.

Our stay was pleasant, but was marred by very poor service at breakfast. We had requested an early breakfast and were assured that this would be fine - it wasn't. We waited outside a locked dining room for around 15mins. When the staff member finally turned up, they were obviously not happy that clients were there that early - we were not asked if we would like anything cooked, and, as we needed to get away, made do with a very poor, inadequate breakfast. We noted that other guests who had arrived after us in the dining room and were clearly there on business were asked for their cooked breakfast order.

The whole place needs a good update in terms of decor, furnishings, style etc but this would cost a fortune......

“Excellent stay - nice hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 July 2010

Stayed here for just one night in June. The hotel was very quiet, we were treated very well, the room was excellent with everything we could wish for - including plenty of space. I don't usually sleep very well away from home - but did here. Breakfast couldn't be bettered. I would DEFINITELY stay here again on our way to Cornwall (now we know where to find it!).

“Value for Money”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 October 2008

This is not a place to stay if you want out and out luxury however it is the best place to stay for value for money, friendly staff, excellent breakfasts and good location. It is a small hotel, family run. The family room consisted of two rooms, both with en-suite. The rooms were small but clean and attractive. I gather the other rooms in the hotel are larger. The hotel is located in a cul-de-sac two minutes' walk from the centre of Launceston but beware, you need a sat nav or very good instructions to find it due to the maze of streets around the town centre. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, the staff went out of their way to make us feel at home and we would definitely stay there again.
