Agree with reviewers who say this is a place with lots of untapped potential - spacious bedroom, which I found comfortable, good sized en suite, but tea and coffee in the room of the bog-standard variety, and no biscuits. The whole place felt like it had given up. The tasty breakfast is what rescued this review from falling below average, albeit that the speed at which it arrived at would suggest that it was sitting under a heater in the kitchen. Poor value for money at over £80 a night for 2.

This hotel needs a complete refurbishment from top to bottom, house keeping very poor, bedroom very cramped and dated, thread bare carpets in corridors, cracked window panes, shower head missing. We would not recommend this hotel.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Sun Hotel, the view from our bedroom window was of the Castle at Walkworth, the room was lovely, very clean, en suite area also well equiped and very clean. Breakfast was wonderful and there was a lot of choice, nothing was too much for the friendly and helpful staff. Evening meal was excellent, again with a lot of choice on the menu, suitable for every pallet.
The hotel is an old one, and the dining/breakfast area could do with an update. Floorboards creek, but this just adds to the character of the building.
Overall - an excellent time was had by our group of 13.

Having family in Warkworth we travel over fairly often, this time we decided to stay in The Sun. Though I've been in a few times I've never stayed before.

The entrance & reception is okay a little bit dated but does the job.
The staff were courteous and gave what was expected.
The room (2) was fine, nice and comfortable with TV, WiFi Internet access and tea/coffee/hot chocolate making facilities. A little rough around the edges (the curtains needed edged) and the window could have done with a dust but no major complaints.
We had cereal for breakfast so didn't try the cooked.

We WOULD stay here again and though the hotel has a lot of potential to be better it really is quite charming and sleepy like Warkworth.
