Pakse Forum: A great driver/guide in Pakse

thank you for the information..we are heading to Pakse in May and did not want to join a orgainised tour much prefer our own driver..will email him..

I'll stick this on the "frequently asked questions" as people often ask for drivers down south and there aren't too many of them compared to Vientiane/LP.

Currently in Pakse. Sent an email 2 days ago to this guy and still awaiting a reply. Maybe working on Laos time!!!

Found it pretty easy to organise a driver here. Just go to one of the many tourist shops. Around $40 to $60 for airconditioned mini-van and driver for the day.

thank you so much, where is good to stay if i want to organise a trip around the south? as mentioned above i have not had any luck with contacts for those guest houses

Generally most stay for only 2 or 3 days at Pakse before moving down to the islands area. During those 2 days you can spend 1 day doing the plateau and another visiting Wat Phu.

We are staying at the Champasak Palace Hotel which is ok but down the wrong end of town. Costs between $40-$60/night. Rooms are large and an interesting place to stay. There is the Pakse Hotel where a lot of middle age people are staying and numerous guest houses for the younger person, though can not give any recommendations on the latter.

Just arrange for someone once you arrive. I have been to Pakse 4 times and have never had to hire a driver in advance. There are PLENTY of people there as drivers, and you can very easily have your hotel call a guy...

After flying into Pakse we would like to go by private van directly to Don Khong. Do you know if private vans can be arranged on arrival at Pakse airport?
