I have just booked with Gold Coast Family Car Rentals and got a good price. Economy Rentals Cars originally quoted a slightly better rate but then didn't have stock of the vehicle class we needed for our dates. Also looked at East Coast Car rentals - their initial quote with standard cover was very good but if you take extra cover to limit liability, they become quite a bit more expensive - they do say that if you find a quote better they will match it but haven't tested this policy. Cut Price car rentals also seemed to have a fairly good rate but first two mentioned above still better.

I'm from Adelaide and have used Gold Coast Family Car Rentals twice before and about to use them for a third time in Jan 2012. I recommended to a friend and he used them too and was happy also. Service is good. Price is good. Website very informative. They have newer cars but we hired early model cars as we figured why pay premium price for new car that will sit in the theme park car park most of the day. Older cars were clean & pretty well maintained considering their age of type of use. There are some travel area limitations on the older cars though. Website will tell you them.

We are legitimate tourists and not stooges for this company as sometimes can be the case in these forums.

We've just completed our holiday on the Gold Coast and we hired from Gold Coast Family Car Rentals.

We got a good rate (so much cheaper than the majors) including extra insurance (they don't charge a ridiculous per day amount for this either) and the other bonus is that if you need a booster/baby seat, one is provided at no extra charge. The majors don't do that!

We ended up hiring a 2001/2 Mitsubishi Magna for 7 days. It had well over 300,000 km on the clock, but considering it's age it drove quite well. Remarkably fuel efficient too. And it was given to us very clean and very straight.

Grant and the crew are all very nice and helpful and offered any assistance we might have wanted. We were picked up from the Gold Coast airport, and it is a 20 minute or so ride back to there office in their minibus. All our luggage was moved from the bus to the car whilst we finalised the paperwork.

Great value for money and would definately use them again.
