Restaurant for 70th Birthday in Broadbeach

We are travelling from Adelaide to the Gold Coast for my Dad's 70th Birthday in early December and staying in Broadbeach, I am not familiar with the restaurants here so looking for any recommendations on where to celebrate on the night.

We are all staying on Surf Parade o looking for somewhere within walking distance. There will be 7 adults and 4 children aged 4-13 so looking for somewhere child friendly but still having a nice ambience and great food.

Any suggestions will be very much appreciated, thanks.

It's strange that no one has posted any recommendations, as I thought there would surely be some!

Unfortunately, I'm not overly familiar with restaurants in Broadbeach (last time, we ate at Boonchu Thai, but, I wouldn't recommend it for special occasions), so can't recommend anything personally. I don't know which end of Surf Parade you're staying on (e.g. Closer to Pacific Fair or closer to Oasis Mall), but, there are many restaurants near Oasis Mall (and if you're staying closer to Pacific Fair, then, you're only about 7-10 minutes walk away - very easy walk).

I don't know if you've already read the reviews for restaurants here on TA: tripadvisor.com/…EATERY_LIST_CONTENTS as that might give you some ideas, if you haven't yet done so.

Champagne Brasserie (rated #3 here): http://www.champagnebrasserie.com.au/ might be an option considering, as I noticed that they do have a (limited) children's menu for dinner as well, but, I've never dined there myself, so, can't really comment on quality, service, etc., although, it does seem to get decent reviews. Not sure where you're staying on Surf Parade, but, if you're on the Pacific Fair end, then, it's about 15 minutes walk (but less, if you're closer to Oasis Mall instead).

Good luck with your planning and have a GREAT time on the Gold Coast! :)

Thanks so much for your feedback random-sunshine and I did have a look at the reviews for the restaurants and was still confused! We want a nice ambience but I know my Dad wouldn't feel relaxed if it was too upmarket so I will keep looking and I'm sure I will find something.

We are staying at the Mantra Sierra Grand and it looks as though it is closer to Pacific Fair, we could always grab a taxi to the Oasis Mall.

Thanks again.

How coincidental! I stayed very close to the Mantra Sierra Grand last time (the apartments look very nice, by the way!). It's a very easy walk to Oasis Mall - just head straight down Surf Parade, so, around ten minutes walk (all flat ground - not sure if this would still be difficult for your dad or not?).

You are in an excellent location (at least, I think so!), by the way! I found it so convenient because the beach was only five minutes walking distance away (if you can, I recommend getting an oceanview room), and then, you have Pacific Fair with Coles just opposite. I'm not sure if you'll be driving or not, but, if you're not, the bus stop is very close by too (opposite Mantra Bel Air, if you're heading in the direction of Surfers Paradise or the theme parks, and just outside Mantra Bel Air and the shops there, if you're wanting to head in the direction of Mermaid Beach or the Airport, etc.). I really liked the location because it was quieter than I imagine it would be on the other end closer to Oasis Mall because of all the restaurants and whatnot.

I'm not sure if you're interested in Indian food or not, but under the Mantra Sierra Grand is Saffron, which I saw was quite popular on the weekends. The Thai restaurant there (Chiangmai Thai Restaurant) was even busier, and there's also a Japanese teppanyaki restaurant there too. Unfortunately, I didn't eat any of these restaurants, but, they looked like decent options.

Not sure if you'll be looking for a cake, but, I recommend checking out Madisons Cafe' in Oasis shopping mall. We couldn't choose between the many delicious looking cakes (although, we only got a slice each) - They all looked amazing!

Good luck with your search, and I hope you all have an AMAZING trip! :)

Hmmm, special occasions...... Broadbeach........ Not too pretentious

Italian - Marios (Oasis Mall)

Chinese - Zen

Revolving Restaurant - Seafood/Asian Buffet - 5 min taxi trip

Thai - Chiang Mai Thai - I havent been to the one under the Sierra Grand but the ones at Broadbeach and Nobby Beach are excellent.

As mentioned above you are spoilt for choice for good restaurants in the Broadbeach area. Take a walk a couple of days before-hand and see what takes your fancy.

Lots of good restaurants in broadbeach but not sure if fitting for a 70 th birthday mainly because they are always so busy. I'd go for the revolving restaurant.

Thanks so much for your feedback everyone and a few options there, we like all cuisines so Mario's, Chang Mai Thai or Saffron would be great as not really into buffets. Also we arrive on the day of my Dad's birthday so won't have time to look for restaurants and as they are so busy would prefer to book in advance.

Great to hear we are in a good location random-sunshine and thanks for the recommendation for Madison's Cafe as will be in need of a cake, it is also my sons 13th birthday on Monday 12th so will have another occasion to celebrate.

Thanking you all once again for your feedback.

Not upmarket at all, but our kids love it and that's the buffet restaurant at the Casino just across the road from where you are staying.

There are so many restaurants in Broadbeach, some new ones too and as it's a family area many of them are child friendly.
