Steve, cruzncouple used the correct phrase..API
What is the Advance Passenger Information System (APIS)?
Advance Passenger Information (API) is passenger data required by government authorities in advance of a passenger's arrival or departure for the purpose of aviation security and border control.
Qantas is required to comply with and provide Advance Passenger Information data to the government authorities.
The APIS maximises security of travel by providing customs with information about passengers prior to their arrival in a country, such as passport information and address at your destination. Only the relevant information required by each country will be provided to their customs and immigration authorities.
If I don't provide the required Advance Passenger Information through Manage Your Booking prior to departure, will I be able to travel?
As it is mandatory for Qantas to collect API for the governments of various countries prior to travel, passengers who do not supply API will not be permitted to travel.
You must provide the required API at least 72 hours before departure to allow for processing by the US Department of Homeland Security.
You can do this through Manage Your Booking
NOTE: Please add your middle name at the time of booking. If you do not add your middle name at the time of booking and it appears on your passport, you will have to call Telesales to add it to your booking.
I've taken this off the Qantas pages..
