If I were doing it, I'd take the T (Silver Line to South Station, Red Line to Harvard Square), but you might prefer to take a cab.

I would guess around $40-50. There's a tool available somewhere on the Web for calculating approximate cab fares in Boston. Somebody might post the link here, or I'm sure a little creative searching would turn it up.
The taxi fare should be right around $40-45 including the tunnel toll, airport fee, and a tip for the driver. Although public transportation is reliable and under $2 per person, you might find the cab a good way to go after a long flight from the west coast, especially with luggage.
