Get your quick guide to the top hotels, restaurants and things to do.
We're planning to attend our niece's graduation from Harvard Law School in May 2012. All of the hotels near the school are full. We're not familiar with the surrounding towns. so it's hard to know what area we should be looking at. We'd like to stay three or four nights and do a little sightseeing as well. Any suggestions?
Harvard Square is easily accessible by public transport so, as long as you want to stay and sightsee, you could stay anywhere in Boston. Are you interested in sightseeing in Boston? or were you thinking of going other places in the area?
A hotel in Arlington or even Lexington would be relatively convenient to the Law school. You say all the hotels near the school are full - is the Homewood Suites in Arlington completely booked? You could take a bus from there...
Or you could stay out in Waltham or Lexington at any number of hotels and park at Alewife, take the Red Line to Porter Square, if you didn't want to drive all the way on graduation day.
As Ting said, you could stay anywhere Downtown and get there on the T. That would actually be much better for sightseeing.
Check out the Liberty Hotel in Boston. The Charles St. stop on the Red Line is right across the street and will take you in a few minutes to Harvard Square. It is a new hotel, part of which is located in the old city jail and is unique. It has a good restaurant, Scampo, and a popular lobby bar on the weekends. The hotel is close to sightseeing, Beacon Hill, Charles St. etc.
