 Back from Boston, thanks!

We returned from Boston this evening and had a great time, much of it due to the great tips I got on the forum, so thanks a lot. Loved the North End, rode the T all over, and had some wonderful seafood and Italian food.

A few quick notes about the trip. Silver line bus is very convenient from the airport terminal to the T.

Good signage in the subway, never got lost.

Enjoyed the North end shops especially Mike's Bakery for cannoli's, had a cappachino at an outdoor cafe that reminded me of Italy.

Had great seafood at Atlantic Fish Co. in Boston

Nice lunch at Harvard Square, Russell's tavern

Stayed at Best Western at Alewife stop and it was very nice with warm buffet breakfast

Thank you for the info. You have some great highlights from the trip. I always wondered how that Best Western was. Did you get a decent rate?

Thanks for the additional info, timjc.

Did you enjoy that Cappachino at Caffe Vittoria?

Best Western Tria; Did you walk to Alewife station, or did the hotel provide shuttle service? And if so, how was the service?

We used the Best Western shuttle to Alewife station and it was great. The walk is about 15 minutes and the shuttle driver was very friendly and accommodating taking us right away rather than having us wait, which saved us about 30 minutes. We also used it for transport to Tufts for graduation.

We found the Best Western management very helpful as we had a mixup on the reservation even though it was confirmed and they found us a place at the Sheraton, paid the cab both ways for the one night they were full. The cocktail lounge was nice, especially after the flight in, and the bartender we had knew how to make a drink and was helpful with suggestions for the North End.

The cafe was awesome, reminded us of Rome where we were last fall. It was open air, with European soccer on the TV, and a couple of locals sitting around.

Which Sheraton?

How many nights did you stay at the best western? Hotels always pay for the cab when they overbook guests. Once you are checked into a hotel, they can ask you leave if they are overbooked, but cannot make you leave.
