 October Plans

We are planning a trip in October, dates are flexible. Are there any events going on that would drive hotel rates up? Any other input, like weekdays vs. weekends, best time to book hotel, etc., would be appreciated.

P.S. I appreciate all of the time everyone puts into answering these questions. I've spent quite a few hours searching through the forums.

Right now- American Air seems to have the least expensive flights on Wednesdays from HOU to LGA- through out Oct.

I also see on Kayak that you can get a decent deal on 5* Waldorf Towers for Oct.

and the best 4* I am seeing in midtown Manhattan is Flatotel (also on Kayak)-

Overall- the hotel prices are also seem pretty consistent through Oct.

Columbus Day Weekend is the only major "event" I can think of that might affect hotel prices. In general, Oct. is a pricey month for hotels.

Yes Columbus Day weekend will be the 10th Anniversary of Open House New York.

We also celebrate Halloween big time here and the Marathon is the first Sunday in November.

Okay, we are planning to avoid the two holidays that month. I'm not seeing a big difference whether I look at Thursday through Tuesday rates,as compared with Monday through Friday. I'm guessing the whole month is just going to be pricey.
