Is This Possible To Do In 1 Day

Is this possible to do in 1 day, as we will be starting our day at Battery Park, and thought it was a good idea to work our way back towards Times Square.

1.

We have booked the Ellis Island tour for 9.00, reading other reports we should be back at Battery Park around 12.00

2.

Walk fromThe Brooklyn Bridge across to Manhattan.

I have instructions on how to get there from The Bowling Green, and have printed off The Idiots Guide

3.

When we get back to Manhattan walk to the following:

Wall Street- Federal Reserve Bank-WTC-Trinity Church-St Pauls Chapel. We have booked the 9/11 Memorial for 4.00pm

4.

When we have finished at the memorial, get the subway to The ESB arrival time at ESB is not an issue, as on one of our days we will be going to T.O.T.R. in daylight hours.

I just figured that the ESB was on our back uptown, so try and fit it in on the same day.

Many thanks I appreicate all your opinions

Karen

You should be able to do this no problem.

Observatory Hours:

Open daily 365 days a year.

8 a.m. to 2 a.m. seven days a week*. The last elevators go up at 1:15 a.m.

1969blueboy - just read your TR. I am assuming that Kermy does not require the same level of refreshment stops as yourself. LOL

Kermy - I think if you have it planned you should be prepared to be flexible if need be but there is nothing seems difficult to me to achieve. I don't know if you need to schedule in time difference/jet lag a bit as I don't know how long you will have been in US before you plan to do this day.

The hours were for ESB by the way so that allows plenty scope for finishing time.

Get to Battery Park by 8:30 or even 8:15 because even though you have reserved tickets, you'll need to go through airport-style security and it takes time.

Getting back by 4pm is easy. I can't see a problem at all with that kind of plan. A lot of the places in the afternoon once you're back in Manhattan are look and see places, that are easily done within an hour or so, depending on your walking pace.

You are in for a very big day....and yes you could do it but quite rushed. When you come back from Ellis Island, why not stay in the Financial District till you go to the Memorial...you will be able to enjoy it so much more, enjoy Battery ParK and walking along the waterfront, walk to Stone St and have a drink or something t eat in one of the many cafes/bars. Take your time in St Paul`s Chapel and its graveyard. Visiting here is very moving and deserves not to be rushed.

I would reccommend you go to Brooklyn another day and enjoy at least a walk along the Promenade, taking in the wonderful views of the Lower Manhattan skyline and the Brooklyn Bridge, before walking the bridge back to Manhattan.

Kermy, if however, you have very limited time in NYC then go with your plan.

In any case, have a great time in NYC.

Thanks guys for all your input.

Lassie you assumed right, I don't think I will be stopping for a lot of refreshment drinks lol.

We arrive in NYC on the 9th May, we are going to Ellis Island on the 14th May.

Having been re-thinking my plan, maybe we should go to Brooklyn on the 10th May, have a nice walk around, then walk back over Brooklyn Bridge. Get the subway up to the Grand Central, T.O.T.R then then go to Central Park

We land at JKF @ 5.00pm, so it really doesn't matter what time we head out the next day, as I had kept this as a freee day.

We have our tickets for the ESB, but we can do that any night we want

Do you think this is a better plan.

Can't have a really late night, as we are looking at booking a bus trip to Washington DC the next day

Thanks

Karen

I think you could do your original plan OK but as a suggestion I would walk to Brooklyn over the Brooklyn Bridge (rather than back to Manhattan). You will have to turn around occasionally to see the Manhattan skyline but once you get to Brooklyn Heights the Promenade will give you all the skyline views you could ask for.

Doing this will give you more time in Brooklyn Heights. You could then take a subway back to Manhattan and continue with the Lower Manhattan things.

Kermy, your rethink of doing Brooklyn on the 10th May sounds like a great move as you will end up with more time there....and your plan for the rest of the day for Grand Central, TOTR and Central Park will work well. When you are at Grand Central, if you have the time go to Library, a really beautiful building.

By mid May the days should be long enough to do all this easily.

Are you going to Washington DC by bus on your own or are you planning to do a tour? So much here as well that it merits staying overnight if you can.

Enjoy your planning....you will be so rewarded when your there!

The only reason to go to the Federal Reserve bank is if you go inside nd have a tour.

www.newyorkfed.org/aboutthefed/visiting.html

Either play it by ear about your Brooklyn visit or go another day.
