“ Grand Hyatt DFW - terminal location question ”

Arriving from Australia into DFW and Looking at booking grand Hyatt DFW for 1 night before boarding a flight to fort lauderdale the next morning.
I read in another post that someone said to not go outside the airport if you want to access the hotel. ??
One question, to access the hotel in terminal d, do we collect our bags and clear customs and then access the hotel before 'going outside' the terminal.
Also, as we will be arriving around noon we thought we would drop our bags at the hotel and then head off into dfw for a look around.
Wen we come back to the hotel do we have to clear security to access the hotel or is the entry located outside the security clearances.
