 Jersey in October

My wife and I will be visiting Jersey next month, staying at the Grand Jersey Hotel in St Helier. I notice there's a car rally scheduled fir when we visit. Will this cause many roads to be closed?

Do many of the attractions close their doors for the winter at the end of September?

We're from Aberdeen so assume the weather will feel pretty warm to us - jerseys and cardigans rather than winter jackets perhaps?

The car rally is on a Friday night and the next day, Saturday. Friday night's event is usually on roads to the north of the island. Roads will be closed on the Saturday and it is a general pain to be endured for that weekend.

Unless you want to watch some amateurs trying to be Jeremy Clarkson I would imagine that the hotel will tell you how to avoid it.

We have just returned from Jersey and as usual have had a great time. We have been several time before and so pleased that we have taken our 'Sat nav' as it save you going round and round in circles plus getting round St Helier's one way system it is a must. Postcodes do not work but map coordinates do. If you are interested in finding place to visit usung this method take a look at this site: raytaylor.com/Jersey_Discover_using_GPS.htm

Just another thought - I don't know if it would interest you or not but the annual cider festival takes place that same weekend at Hamptonne Country Life museum and has lots of things taking place including traditional Jersey apple pressing and black butter making. Worth a visit if you're partial to a tipple.

Beware many attractions close mid october. I have just come back 2/10 and things are beginning to quiten down. Having said that I always go spring or autumn to avoid the crowds. The weather will be warm, not hot and you will have a great time.

Oh yes. Just read other post. Sat Nav is a godsend ! Don't forget it, and check your system actually has the Channel Islands in it.

Thoroughly enjoyed our short stay in Jersey. Weather was generally good, hotel very nice and eating out very reasonable thanks to Tennerfest!

There is plenty to see and do on the island with the Durrell Wildlife Park a superb attraction.

Driving was pretty easy, the island being of a size which means nowhere is very far away.

Would recommend Jersey to anyone as a holiday destination. I'll be back!
