 Mystic Hills campground

Has anyone stayed in the cabins at Mystic Hills? My husband and I hope to stay there next summer during that part of our trip to the Badlands and Black Hills, but can find little information aside from their website. I have called and left a message and emailed them about reservations with no word back after 5 days, so I am not sure what to think.

I am unable to advise you regarading Mystic Hills campground but am wondering why you chose a campground in the northern Black Hills? Are you planning on spending the majority of your time in the Hills in the Deadwood/Lead area. There are numerous campgrounds to choose from in the Hill City/Keystone area that are more centralized to the majority of the attractions in the Black Hills including Mt. Rushmore, Custer State Park and even Deadwood, about a 1/2 hour away. What specifically are you looking for; cabins, camping cabins, campgrounds, or other lodging options? If you do not receive an answer from the proprieters of Mystic Hills, let us know and we can make other suggestions.

We have a very late night flight into Rapid City, so we will stay somewhere near the airport 1st night. We plan to see some things in town the next day, then head over to Wall to base there a couple nights to see the Badlands. From there, we hoped to base in the Deadwood area for one to two nights to see Devils Tower (I hear either early morning or around twilight is great for photos) as well as the northern Black Hills (Sturgis, Deadwood, Spearfish Canyon). Our final leg is based in the Custer area since we want to see Mount Rushmore, some of the caves, drive the wildlife loop, see Sylvan Lake, etc.

We are flying from FL, and enjoy wildlife viewing as a high priority, so we have looked for cabins that we don't need linens. I also like a small kitchen since we prepare a lot of our own meals to hold down the cost of the trip. Any advice is welcome.

We like the look of the Frontier cabins in Wall and the Roost in the Custer area.

If you do not hear back from Mystic Hills, look into either Rimrock Lodge in Spearfish Canyon or Wickiup Village located near the southern entrance to Spearfish Canyon. Both resorts are rustic but clean and linens provided. Rimrock Lodge's location is fantastic, up on the rim of the canyon. Several of the cabins are actually built over the rim. Fantastic views. Unfortunately, these cabins do not have small kitchens but do have a small fridge and microwaves. The town of Spearfish is about 10 mins. away with many restaurant choices. There is also an excellent restaurant at the south entrance to the canyon called Cheyenne Crossing. Excellent, home cooked meals, reasonably priced. One of the best places to eat in the Black Hills. Wickiup Village is just a block south of Cheyenne Crossing. These quaint, little cabins are a blast from the past. Built in the 30's, not much has changed since then. They do have bathrooms, small kitchen, linens and are very clean. They are nestled in between the pines and fir trees next to a pristine, babbling brook which lulls you to sleep. We have stayed at both places and have fond memories of both.
