No casinos in SD allow smoking on the floor anymore (except on the reservations). I'm sure there are still hotels that allow smoking in individual rooms though, none that I'm familiar with.
just booked a smoking room at the bullock-not sure about the casino areas.
Good news about the non-smoking casinos - Thanks!
I wonder if the casinos have noticed a drop in revenue because of the recent non-smoking ban. Anyone know?
Deadwood gambling revenue has been down all year. It is hard to say whether or not it is due to the smoking ban although the casinos claim that is one of several reasons. As for lodging, most properties see an increase in revenue after they ban smoking. Every dollar lost to smokers is more than made up by non-smokers who appreciate a smoke-free facility. Also operating costs are lower through savings in cleaning, maintenance and damage repair.

While I know that there are many non-smoking gamblers, to me it seems that gambling - drinking - smoking, go hand-in-hand. Here in Manitoba all casinos are non smoking and no liquor on the casino floors. Because of this, and not being big gamblers, we travel once a year to a MN casino for a weekend. Hubby (non smoker) likes to have a few beers at the machines and I (rare drinker) like to have a smoke (sometimes). When travelling we prefer non smoking rooms and I have the occasional smoke outside. Works great for us.
Just for all those visiting that might be inclined to visit the "Top Questions" section on the right hand portion of your computer screen, Deadwood is in fact all non-smoking via a ban enacted by South Dakota voters.
Like many lodging establishments across the country you can still smoke in the comfort of your hotel room if you decide to book a hotel room that offers smoking as a viable option.
You may also still smoke outside at any of the various casino's in Deadwood, South Dakota.

Laurie from Appleton, you may want to check out the Reservations if you don't mind doing some driving to get to your travel destinations.
Misty, please let me know where you got your info. From what I have read there is no way to know what the loss in revenue can be attributed to.
High gas prices
Bad economy
Loss of disposable income
