Well, I guess it should be considerably cheaper, but a hippo outside the reserve will look pretty much like one inside!

You won't be paying the daily park fees (75 USD?) which may be a substantial overhead, and so it should be so much cheaper.

But I would seriously question the quality of the guides, especially the walking, as this is a specialist skill and without it, the walk could veer into danger. Also, would anyone have a weapon? In the reserve, the Ranger service would provide an armed escort, but I can't see anyone being allowed to walk with a rifle outside the reserve.

If its a nature walk around a village, then fine, but otherwise, I would check what you are getting and how much it costs.

The village should be good.
