 Selous riverside camp

I am planning on staying at selous riverside camp in mid august with my two student age childres. It has been suggested, by someone who knows Tanzania, that this camp is outside the park and wildlife viewings are difficult and rare. It doesn't look that way from the reports on here but does anyone have advice. I could change the booking if that was necessary. Thanks.

Selous Riverside is indeed outside of the reserve, but not by much in the grand scheme of things. We have had many very satisfied clients who have taken advantage of the comparatively low prices for something similar inside the reserve. If money was no object then of course there are other options, but on balance this is a great little camp. It may also be worth a mention that game viewing in the Selous is not the same as in the north of Tanzania where the herds are far larger and the landscape more open. The north is also much busier, some say for good reason whilst for others this puts them off. Please let me know if you need more help.

This camp is fine if you accept the drive in each morning.

There is plenty of Wildlife around so don't worry on that score.

Selous has often been regarded as not for first timers due to the Wildlife being 'skittish' and shy but things have changed and the animals are more settled now.

It is much more of an "Out of Africa" experience than the northern circuits but the Wildlife is harder to see. Quality not quantity is what you are looking for in the Selous.

Bearing in mind that The Selous is the largest game park in Africa, with maybe one-third of it being used for visitors, even a short ride into the park itself is part of the adventure. I wouldn't make a big deal out of this.
