Watertown forum To describe the Fort Drum Visiting Officers Quarters (VOQ) as a cesspool would bestow an unwarranted level of opulence on the place.
Spartan accommodations, paper thin walls, shabby decor and circa 1930 shared bathrooms are probably the BEST features of the Fort Drum VOQ.
Whether or not the VOQ is preferable to field conditions remains an open question…
WARNING – avoid staying here at all costs!
Was that the only option available to you? I will be
visiting my son who is stationed at Ft Drum, next
month. But I am planning on staying at the
Holiday Inn in Watertown. I am sorry you had such
a horrible experience. Hope you have a better place
to stay next time.
The Holiday Inn Express and Hampton Inn are the nicest, newest hotels in the Fort Drum area. They’re vastly superior to Fort Drum’s lodging options (including the Drum Inn).
Unfortunately, I was on Temporary Duty (TDY) and was compelled to stay on post. It’s truly appalling that Soldiers are routinely placed in such substandard Army lodging.
