 Finger Lakes

My sister and I will be driving to the Finger Lakes from Cleveland and will arrive on a Sun and leave on a Weds. How long will it take to drive the complete circle from Geneva to Watkins Glen? I would also like to stay at 3 different places around the trail and would like some suggestions. Also some good wineries to visit from July 25-28. Like some scenic views for lunch and sitting on a porch to view the lake while having wine. Any suggestions would be welcome. Thank you.

Glenora Inn on the western shore of Seneca Lake offers lodging, a winery and a full-service restaurant, all with lake views. Esperanza Mansion on Keuka Lake has lodging and a restaurant with great lake views. Fox Run winery on Seneca has a little lunch spot and a deck with great views. Just a few suggestions.

Destination Expert   What's this?
for Auburn

It is only about 40 miles (one way) from Watkins Glen to Geneva.

A great restaurant with covered outdoor seating and lake views is Stonecat. It is in Hector on the east side (Rt. 414). I highly recommend it.

Glenora has an excellent restaurant (Veraisons) on the west side (Rt. 14). Neither restaurant is very far from Watkins Glen.

You could easily cut over to either Keuka Lake (west side - take Rt. 54 off of Rt. 14) or Cayuga Lake (east side - take either Rt. 96A or Rt. 96 of off Rt. 414) and visit the wineries there.

I'll second the vote for the Stonecat Cafe!

Thank You. Can you recommend a place for us to stay around Hector? I was thinking about Watkins Glen Harbor Hotel but they have a 7 day cancellation policy. We will definitely go to the Stonecat.

I know it's tough to find information sometimes because the Finger Lakes is such a large region. I do not know personally of any B&Bs near Hector - but I looked on the map of the Seneca Lake wine trail. These three listings are nearby:

43 - Finger Lakes Waterfall Resort ~ Burdett, NY (607) 546-7171

44 - Seneca Springs Resort ~ Hector, NY (607) 546-4066

45- Magnolia Place Bed & Breakfast ~ Hector, NY (607) 546-5338

Also, try the Fox and Grapes, which is further north - but I think it is nice. Of course, read some reviews of each of these places. Good luck!

Thanks so much. This is really helpful. I am hoping for good weather; S. TX is so humid, it will be good to leave for awhile.

I've stayed at Seneca Springs Resort (in the main house just a few weeks ago) and the Fox &Grapes (a couple years ago) and would recommend both.
