“ Highlights of the Finger Lakes? ”

In two weeks time we will be staying in Painted Post for one night (on our way from Gettysburg to Niagara Falls) and would like to do a driving tour of the Finger Lakes either that evening or the next morning on our way on to Niagara Falls. Please would you be able to suggest a good driving tour for either of these options and suggest places that would be worth stopping at enroute to get a good feeling of what the Finger Lakes has to offer?
Any good beaches you could recommend, or towns / villages to eat in, would also be greatly appreciated.
