Can anyone please recomnd the best way to do hiking at Mohonk? Trails? Where to stay on the budget?

How can we visit for a day without staying overnight at Mohonk House?

Yes, you can hike to your heart's content in the Mohonk Preserve without staying as a guest at the Mohonk Mountain house. My family loves spending the day hiking in the "gunks". Here is a site specific to day hiking at Mohonk.....

I would suggest you look into staying in a motel/hotel in New Paltz, NY. There are several national chain hotels there (Super 8, EconoLodge, etc.) and perhaps someone here can give you better guidance on which one of them are better than others. The little town of New Paltz is at the foot of the Mohonk Preserve and only about a 10 min drive from the trail heads up near the main House.

Tahnk you for your reply. A lot of websites recomend a Lemon Squeeze hike. How can we do it?

I believe we must buy a day pass to the House?

Do you have any information on this?

If you go to the website I provided, you will find all the information you could possibly need about purchasing a day pass to hike, the Lemon Squeeze, how to get to the trail heads, where to park, parking fees, etc., as well as phone numbers for more info on hiking.
