 Swarming bugs in Wildwood Crest

Just got back from a week at Wildwood Crest. First morning I got there, decided to get sunrise photos - 5:45am on beach. Really warm Tuesday morning, no wind, could hardly hold video camera still because of small flying bugs literally flying around me. Sun just rising, determined to get some good shots, so I worked through it. Beach truck was coming through back and forth smoothing out sand. The bugs just seemed annoying at this point. I finally got my photos and went inside, didn't see any bites, so I thought I'd lucked out. But I didn't feel just right all day, kind of sick. The next day bites started surfacing on arms, legs and feet, one on neck. They started itching big time. 3 days later, still itching. Most are tiny bites, some were bigger. What kind of a bug is this? Do sand fleas fly???

I wouldn't doubt it given all the other strange things that are happening in this world.

Thanks for the warning!

Destination Expert   What's this?
for Atlantic City

I am just taking an uneducated guess, but maybe a Tiger Mosquito?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aedes_albopictus excerpt: 'it closely associates with humans (rather than living in wetlands), and typically flies and feeds in the daytime in addition to at dusk and dawn'

I got bit by one by the AC Aquarium and my forehead swelled up

I get bit by these buggers in Philly also. I mostly get attacked when I'm watering plants, but since I am expecting them, I never get bit as bad in Philly.

>>I didn't feel just right all day, kind of sick<< There is some info on diseases at the Wiki Article …wikipedia.org/wiki/…Role_as_disease_vectors I am hoping you have since recovered and the bad feeling was a short term issue

Mosquitoes and other biting insects really love me, so in preparation for a lot of African safaris, i did a heck of a lot of research on insect repellents, None of my party of 5 got bitten by anything, in over a month in six African countries.

My research is here:

Complete Insect Repellent & Insecticide Information

Analysis of Products, Ingredients, Warnings, Efficacy, Duration of Protection, Toxicity, etc....

www.woodsmall.com/insect-repellents.htm

I hope it helps you
