 Different Strokes

It is really educational reading the various posts to get insights into what LV guests enjoy doing. For some it is food, others clubbing, others gambling, some like shopping, some just like walking around and sightseeing.

Which is one of the reasons when a newbie comes on the forum and asks a generic question, there are so many varying responses.

For me, this is my Vegas trip:

- #1 it is all about the gambling. I like to gamble (understatement) BJ and craps with a small amount of Pai Gow Poker thrown in are my games. Once in a blue moon some roulette just for something different. I like (make that love) to play cards and dice. My favorite places to play include Mirage, Caesars, Paris, Casino Royale, Golden Gate, California, ElCo. et. al.

- I'm from Dallas. We have a bazillion restaurants fantastic restaurants here - any type of food you want. And I mean good stuff if you know where to go. I like eating some good meals in Vegas but not a foodie per se.

- Did I mention I also like to drink? Love me some $1 Michs at Casino Royale. And my favorite bartenders are there and at the Mirage Casino Bar. If I'm in Vegas, I be drankin'

- Shopping - hell no. I can do that in Dallas

- Clubbing - nope. I like lounges with jazz, rat pack, disco, 70s, rock, etc. but none of this hi tech bottle service crap with $10 beers.

- Strip clubs - not my thing either. Not that I don't like pretty ladies, just can't stand to be hustled, especially if I'm paying to be hustled. Have actually NEVER been to a strip club in Vegas. Besides, they got all that in Dallas also if I were interested.

- Sightseeing - it depends - Hoover dam is just an incredible marvel. Might try the mob museum sometime. The problem with this is that it interferes with drinking and gambling.

- Shows - depends on my mood. Some trips I see a couple, other trips none at all.

- Eye candy - Oh yeah! WHIVSIV.

SO.................what brings you to Vegas.

I go to get away....drink, gamble, drink, see shows, gamble, gamble, drink and have fun. I go to do things I like to do that I can't do in here.

I LOVE the lights, the people watching, the walking around and seeing the sites....oh and I love to gamble.

Destination Expert   What's this?
for Las Vegas

These days I go for two reasons, to relax and slow down my reality and to take care of property issues.

I get to stay out late, start slow in the morning, nap in the middle of the day if I want too, eat what I want whenever I want, watch a show or a movie, and something I can't do at home with the same flavor gamble. The local casinos are just not Las Vegas. it's a place I know well so I can get settled quickly and let the vacation begin. The main attraction is that my husband and I get to focus on each other and be playmates. Gotta love that. :-)

I like to go to Vegas for just about everything except going to clubs and shopping. Those two things I never do. I think of it as three separate vacations wrapped into one- relaxing (pools and spas), scenic (VOF, RRC, Mt. Charleston, etc.), glitzy (casinos, shows, bars/lounges, etc.). I can have all three in one visit and I usually can have all three in one day.

However- I do live "next door" to NYC so I also have zillions of restaurants and shows available to me plus things that aren't readily available in Vegas -ballet, opera, major museums, art galleries, a great many boutiques and a whole lot of cultural events.

I am lucky- I don't have to choose. I can have both- Vegas and NYC. One can't replace the other and I get the best of both worlds.

"to relax and slow down my reality"

I like that, it's a really nice description.

We love our life, but we like to get away from it evey once in a while. Las Vegas does that for us. When we are there we don't HAVE to do anything. And nothing is exactly what we do some days.

Hmm.. what brings me to vegas...?

I think its the not working, gambling, drinking, spending time with my DH,drinking and gambling some more. We have a few handfulls of casinos near us but its just not the same.

Oh. and I guess some eating of food stuffs. Could be deep fried twinkies or a wonderful steak dinner. For some reason when I am drinking and gambling I dont get hungry very often.

I dont shop on vacation in Vegas, i really dont do the shows either. I do however like to walk and I get a lot of that in.

Cheers!

I'm all about gambling and specifically blackjack. There are really nice restaurants in Indy and Chicago is just a short drive if I want really upscale choices. I don't get $10 drinks either....that's about as stupid as paying $5 for coffee IMHO.

I hate to admit this, but I can be really drunk and play perfect basic strategy. The cardinal rule about not drinking while gambling does not apply. Lol

I am a middle school teacher and as each year goes by, this career I have chosen becomes even more hellish. Vegas is my happy place where I can forget all my troubles. My husband and I come to Vegas to gamble, eat, drink, and stay up late. We're like teenagers when we are there. There is just no place like it.
