Our Allegiant flight was fine but left 30 minutes late due to the need to de-ice the wings but we arrived at Las Vegas by 11:30 P.M. only a few minutes late. I slept the whole way except to wake up to see the beautiful lights of our Happy Place!
Well rested we de-planed and headed straight to the taxi line. The line was short and we were greeted by a nice taxi driver who asked if it was our first time in Vegas. My response was a huge smile and "Oh, no. We visit 2 or 3 times a year!" As a result - no tunnel. Airport to Flamingo tip included $21.
Having never stayed at Flamingo made me a little nervous about the rooms as we were comped the standard room. We received an e-mail the week before saying we could upgrade to a Go room for $30 a night. I decided I'd rather gamble the extra $120 I would pay for the room and sleep where they put us.
Now, just so you all know my DH is very quiet and just sits back and watches what I'm going to do next - sometimes I'm good and sometimes not so good. We get to the reservations desk and I smile big again and give the nice young lady my drivers licence and Rewards Card. She types in the info and says, "I see you are comped 4 nights in a deluxe room."
I respond (thanks to all of the advice here!), "Yes, we are but do you have a complimentary upgrade available?"
So she gets on the phone to "the powers that be" and after 5 minutes of talking and typing she hangs up the phone and tells me we are now upgraded to a Go Room! After she gets our room keys ready I frantically go through my disaster of a purse and dig out $20. I'm thrilled and she was pleasantly surprised I tipped her after she had already finished registering us. I told her to have a fabulous day because she just made our day great! DH just shook his head and smiled as we walked towards the elevator.
