Lansing to Mount Pleasant--Soaring Eagle Casino

After searching around--it looks like I may have to make a connection in Lansing...in order to get to the Soaring eagle Casino.

Can any one of you tell me about the availability of transportation between Lansing and Mount Pleasant.

How long does it take to get from one location to the other.

How safe is it for a single woman to get around ?

Any real mental stimulating things to see or do?

Any thing to add about the town..the surrounding towns or anything else around the area.

Thanks,

Muskegon...

You could try flying into Flint which is just 20 miles more to Mount Pleasant than Lansing.

Flights there are usually much cheaper.

Either way, car rental would be the easiest means of transportation to Soaring Eagle Casino.

As long as you have a car... you're looking at about an hour from Lansing, 20 minutes from MBS airport, and an hour and 20 from Flint.

The thing is, without a car, you won't be going much of anywhere.

it is totally safe for a single woman, you don't need to worry... your best bet for mental stimulations is Midland (about 15 minutes from the Casino)...

And... except for CMU, there's not a lot in Mt. Pleasant! Sorry about that... not even a mall! Lansing is your best bet for shopping... or the mall in Midland. Midland has a cute downtown, so that's where you'll need to go if you want things like that. Midland and Lansing are also your best bets for restaurants (at least ones that aren't chain!)

Of course, without a car... I think you're in trouble. A cab service would cost you a fortune, and I'm not sure they would go all the way to the Casino to pick you up!

Destination Expert   What's this?
for Charlevoix, Michigan

yes, Lansing is the Capital City of Michigan and is home to one of the largest universities in the US. There are a full complement of car rental agencies at Lansing's airport. It is a nice Midwestern city with many cultural, dining and shopping options. It is safe, it is clean and it is full of kind, helpful people.

As someone who lives on the east coast, just as you do, I am always amazed that people think of the Midwest as a bit like the moon...lacking in amenities and support. I see from your profile that you have traveled in the Caribbean. Please know that, in contrast with the Caribbean, you will find nearly every amenity and infrastructure source available to you in Lansing, Mount Pleasant and Midland or any other city in Michigan.

Relax, rent a car, enjoy the beautiful scenery as you drive from Lansing and have a great trip! Maybe you could even take a drive to Lake Michigan or Lake Huron. People from the East Coast are always stunned and impressed by the size, scope and beautiful of these truly GREAT LAKES! Moms

Thanks so much " Mom " !

I have traveled pretty much coast to coast---but not much in the mid west.

The info you just gave is very important to me...and really helps me to plan out this particular trip.

You see---I have been studying my geneology--and it turns out that I have very deep roots in Michigan that I never knew anything about.I want to be able to get around to several different areas including the Indian reservations...in order to "get in touch with my roots !! " I will probably be doing this alone--my husband does not like to travel. So --I just want you to know --that I don't really think the mid west is "behind the times " or anything like that. I just want to b e sure that if I am traveling alone---that I can feel pretty good about doing that.

Your idea on driving around---is music to my ears !! Thanks again !!

WANT-

The first thing you'll learn about midwesterners (and especially Michiganians) is that we love our cars... we drive everywhere!!!

The second thing you'll learn... we are incredibly helpful!

I cannot imagine you'll have a hard time in any way, shape or form! I would go ahead and book the cheapest airport for you... the way is going to be easy, no matter which of the three you pick!

You will find it very easy to travel around Michigan, visiting areas, etc. If you're looking for family roots.... you will find that the people in the towns you visit are very friendly!

You'll LOVE your trip! Please let me know if there is anything else I can do to help!
