kansastravel.org/olathe/#olathe%20restaurants is a guide to restaurants in Olathe.
Near the racetrack I like Backfire BBQ and Arthur Bryant's BBQ. Granny's CHicken Ranch was good, but recently closed.
For a lesser known treat, drive a half mile east of I-435 on State to the Frontier Steakhouse. Going in the 50 year old restaurnant is like stepping back in time - with prices from back in time. Leave room for the pie.
Hey Sarah...welcome to Kansas!!! While we've been to the Speedway just to see the track, we've never been yet to a race (Ducky Son has though and says the crowds are great)
There are many nice places in the Olathe area and also at Legends (where the track is located) as mentioned by lighthouselover.
You'll only be about 60 miles from me so face toward the west and wave :)
Thanks y'all and hey Ducky I see you all the time on the Vegas board and someday maybe will be there at the same time.
We are big Nascar fans and this is another track off our bucket list although my husband wants to go back when the casino is finished at the track.
I think you'll enjoy it, and we just went by there yesterday since we made a run to Cabela's for some ammo :)
Send me a note when you return, because I would be interested in your opinion of the area.
Hang around Legends before and after the race. I know last year a lot of the drivers and announcers spent time there. Some went to the Pin Up Bowl I know. Kansas Speedway is a really nice track, we've had tickets since they opened and always have a great time. Traffic can get a bit snarled, we usually just hang around the parking area after the race with some snacks and the radio.
Thanks y'all. We've been of course to our home track in Texas many times, Bristol 3 times, Las Vegas, Talledega and Pocono this past summer. Looking very forward to it.
When you are talking about Legends, is this at the track? I saw it on their map and it looks maybe like it is where the souvenir trailers are. Is that what we are talking about?
The Legends shopping center is across from the track. It might be a bit of a hike, but actually you could walk there from the track.
We've talked about trying some of the other tracks in the future. Vegas and Daytona are high on the list.
Hope you have a couple of great times!
I am counting down also. 30 days to my wedding and 31 to Aruba:-)
Hey WyCo...there is NOTHING like Daytona (our daughter lives near the track), so I suggest you take time to attend a race there sometime. You will not regret it :)
