Check the website, because a coworker told me phase one is open...we don't do water parks so haven't yet been by there.
No, it hasn't opened and they aren't saying when it will.
Interesting...coworker must have misunderstood so sorry that I gave an incorrect response :(
It was just announced today, (Wednesday July 15) that it has opened today with a special and will officially open tomorrow. For more info see:
It is opening officially tomorrow, and people can go today for $20 for a two day pass. There was no advance notice and their website is now down, but details are at http://schlitterblogkc.blogspot.com/ The special is only good today - guess this is their way of doing a soft opening.
Their phone (which was not listed on their website when it was up) is (913) 334-5200.
The article on Schlitterbahn in today's Kansas City Star makes it sound like it would be best to wait a few days or weeks to go. The photo with the front end loader parked behind the lifeguard really made the point.
Only 8 of the 13 attractions that they will have this year are open, though more may open as soon as this weekend.
Waterpark is open, but it was a big disappointment. Not many slides/attractions for the price. Little bang for your bucks.
BlueFrog, when did you go?
Phase 1 is open and a HUGE disappointment. My 3 daughters and niece went and said not many rides, long lines, no real pool or beach. If you want a water park in KC Oceans of fun is still much better and CHEAPER.
I went today with 11 and 13 year olds. For the kids there was plenty to do for more than four hours--three water slides, one slow lazy river, one faster and shorter river, one roller coaster like water ride and a hot pool area with a swim up bar. I found plenty of lounge chairs for reading. There were also many shady picnic tables.
I would go back.
