We'll be staying at Indigo this week. Any suggestions for quality raw oysters in the area? We're also open to restaurant suggestions if you have a favorite.
Thanks.

Hi, ILL, 61 here from the NOLA forum. We have a house on Perdido. Eating out down there is always a crapshoot. We had some good oysters (and other seafood) at Fisherman's Corner this summer. You can read my review of it in the reviews section. Very mixed reviews, but I think it might be better off-season. You take a left at the northern base of the bridge heading towards Pensacola over the Intracoastal and double back towards the canal and it is about 100 yards ahead on the right. I can't really rec. any other place down there as being consistently good, unfortunately.
Great to hear from you, 61, as I have always valued your food recommendations in NOLA. We will try your suggestion tonight.
We have been staying in cooking but did venture out across the street to the Jellyfish Bar for nice sushi rolls and martinis. While very convenient to Indigo, they need ro work on their basic wine list and decide if they want to be a sports bar or remain a sushi/martini spot.
I want to take home some fresh shrimp. A local recommended Perdido Seafood under the bridge. Comments?
We've had a place there since the 1960's - when there was absolutely nothing down there, closest groceries were in Foley or P'cola. So I've been just about everywhere down there at one time or another. Yes, Perdido Seafood is fine, we go all the time, but don't wait too late to go in or they'll sell out our of their best stuff. We often call ahead to see what's in. Again, at this time of the year, that's usually less of a problem.
If you have the time, you may want to trek into P'cola to Joe Patti's. It's a very large seafood market that's kind of an attraction in itself and has a vastly larger selection of seafood than anything near the Key. As far as upscale dining options, one place we liked when we were down last month was Global Grill in downtown P'cola. Gets mixed reviews on the web (everything down there does), but we thought their tapas/small plates were pretty good. I wouldn't say it's worth going out of your way for, but if you're going into town anyway, you might want to check it out.
Have fun. Keep an eye out for the monarch migration!
