 February Rain & Disney World

I am planning a trip to Disney World for next week. The forecast is calling for showers (88%) on the day I plan to go (2/21). Should we reschedule our time at WDW or go? Also, when the forecast is such as this, does it rain fairly consistently all day or are we looking at sporadic showers? Thanks in advance!!

Ah, weather reports down here are so fickle. I just checked and the report shows 60% for that day, go figure. In all honesty, its almost a week away and you really wont have a good idea until a couple days beforehand. (EX. It was supposed to rain all day Friday and Saturday down here, it ended up being two gorgeous days without a drop of rain, nice breezes and a cold front.)

However, in the off-chance that one of the meteorologists guess right and it ends up raining... fear not. Usually our showers are over pretty quick (unless there is a heavy band over us in which case youll know). I have been to the Disney parks plenty of times in the rain. A 15 minute downpour is followed by a little humidity and clear skies. Just pack a poncho so you arent wet and miserable all day and youll be good to go!

This is definitely nowhere near the rainy season. Plus, I have had many weather problems there, but I am not going to be anywhere near Florida this month, so I think it is doubtful that you will have much rain while you are there.

We just went this past wkend. Originally the weather forecast predicted rain and thunderstorms everyday. We were so bummed but because of some nice posters in here, we forged on. Brought rain gear. Closer to the day, the weather forecast looked brighter. Only 1 day of possible showers. We are glad we went. The first day of predicated showers was all clear. It rained late that night and stopped in the morning. The next day was cooler and gorgeous. Sunday was cold and sunny. I heard it's going to warm up middle of the week and there's supposed to be sunshine throughout. Good luck. I'd go! The fun outweighs every negative!

Just curious, why the poncho and not an umbrella?

You'd have to be very careful with an umbrella in a park with all those kids around, plus where are you going to put it when you go on a ride!!!!

Yes, you want to be carefully with the umbrella. There are many people walking around and you dont want to hit them, nor them wanting to be hit by you. ;) Dont worry about the rides though, there is always a place to put your bags/loose items, on most rides.

Plus a poncho can fold up easily in your pocket/purse and its one less thing to carry around or misplace. I feel it keeps you a bit dryer as well.

Thank you. I was thinking of bringing my totes umbrella and wearing my trench with a hat. But I guess I'll run to Target` to pick up a few poncho's. Hopefully I won't need them. The weather keeps changing on me. We're leaving in 3 days. I had to pick one of the most busiest weeks besides Christmas and Easter and it has to call for T-storms...oh well :)

Smart! Glad you are going to Target and not buying the ponchos at Disney, youll fall over when you see the price difference! HA!

I just checked the weather forecast and the highest chance of rain is 40%, so I think you should be fine. In addition, you arent really coming during the "busiest" times for Disney World. Remember that while Easter is in April, Spring Break is in March and that is a chaotic time to be there. Summertime is also pretty busy and VERY hot, too!

Just have a gameplan of what you REALLY want to see and perhaps get a "Fastpass" for those rides so you make sure you get on them.
