Orlando Forum: Which Car Hire package?

thanks for that - just tried it and got £356 for the Silver package and £421 with Gold (with Dollar). Much cheaper :)

Gas in Orlando is currently around $3.60 - 3.70 a gallon (some near the airport are charging around $5.90 as reported elsewhere).

Alamo will charge around $3.80 to $4.00 depending on the price prevailing when you collect the car. Tax will be applicable.

Tank capacity is 20 gallons so expect them to charge around $80 (£53) for a tank.

Beware your fuel options are sometimes limited - if you book through some websites such as Carhire3000 and usrentacar you have to pay for a full tank when you collect the car and take back 'empty'. You cannot simply buy the fuel yourself and take back full. You can of course buy additional fuel if you use more than a tank.

If you can get the additional drivers included with a silver package that may be you best option and you should save a tenner or so - otherwise go for the gold package for the extra drivers insurance and the fuel. Fuel could go up before you get there (though it could alsogo down).

Thanks for the calculations on the petrol. If it's about £53 for the petrol, then the extra £12 for the extra drivers is a good deal so I think we will go with the gold package with US rentacar. We can have three drivers then (although I don't think my sister likes the idea of driving on the 'wrong' side!)
