Destination Expert   What's this?
for Clearwater

NPR is a mainly residential/retail type town. Not a 'touristy' type place at all, but is quiet, compared to Tampa/St. Pete. Nearest, larger beach area will be Clearwater Beach, about a 40 minute or so drive.

I will echo MarkBee's comment New Port Richey is a mostly residentail smaller town. JB Starkey park has horse and Bike trails and there are fishing charters and Kayac rentals very little else in town. However it is 20 min south of Weekee Wachie mermaides, 30 min north of Clearwater Beach, 40 n of St. Pete (Museum mecca), 1hr nw of Tampa, Bush Gardens and museums, and just under 2 hours west of Orlando Wally World and all the theme parks. So for a kick off point NPR can be a quiet place to use as a vacation base depending on what you are looking for. Be sure to find out what type of waterfront you are on In NPR, there are salt water canals leading to the Gulf, the Cottie River that leads to the gulf and the limited beach front in Pasco County is not as nice a further south in Clearwater or so
