Driving New Port Richey to Tallahassee

What is Hwy 19 between NPR and Tallahassee like? Is it at all scenic - or anything of interest to stop and see? Timewise, is it much longer than taking I-75 to I-10? Google maps show it to be quicker, but I am not convinced about that.

Would Tallahassee be a good stopping point for a night? Anything you would recommend out of the usual tourist attractions?

I have done both ways from Clearwater, 19 to I-10. And I-75 to I-10.

I think it takes about the same time to get to the same point, I-10 and US19 going either way. And, starting in NPR, puts you closer to start with, so I would say just going up 19 will be the quickest, at least by a little bit.

Once you get up past the Hudson area, traffic really thins out on 19 and the speed limit raises, I think it's 60, or 65 in some areas. Of course, you need to slow going through the little towns along the way.

Is it scenic? Not really... no more, or less than I-75. Lots of trees, and usual rural sights.

I would (and do) pick US19 when making the drive, even from farther South in Clearwater.
