We're planning to rent a waterfront house in Gulf Harbor in June. Wife and I only, visiting my aging mother. Any local knowledge appreciated. 1. Bugs? 2. Noise? 3. Where to rent a small boat to have handy at the dock? 4 . What kind best? 5. Local issues i.e walk to things, drive?

Could you please let me know what you thought of Gulf Harbors?
I am thinking of buying a house there to use in the winter and rent out in the summer.
What is the beach like? Any info would be a big help.

We enjoyed Gulf Hbr. Stayed only 10d. At this time of year, it was very slow, almost deserted. Therefore very quiet, sedate. Excellent private beach, many magnificent homes but a wide range of type and quality. Waterways very top notch, deep draft, direct access to Gulf. From a buyers POV, a good controlled (more or less) environment, probably easy to lock up and leave with confidence. I expect summer rentals might have a level of competition just by the number that seem available. Probably a good time to buy - alot on the market.
Drove around Hudson and Tarpon Springs, and New Port Richey - there are many, many waterfront opportunities.

I just returned from Gulf Harbor. We stayed at Innisbrook Resort but during our time in Gulf Harbor I went to Caladesi Island, the beach there is beautiful.
If your looking for some good Italian food try Jonny Garlic's.

We purchased a house in Gulf Harbors a year and a half ago and just love it. we are actually considering relocating. Nice neighborhood, lots to do on the water, you have Anclote key, Caladesi Island, Honeymoon island. Only 40 minutes to Tampa. Clearwater, Tarpon Springs, Dunedin are great locations to visit for history and beaches. Also great bike trails if you like that sort of thing. We just bought A kayak and love kayaking thru the mangroves in Gulf Harbors.
