Well, it's got my attention.. I like the sandwich , cheese and tapas menu- wonder if they discount anything at happy hour? I always loved that little space- it was my favorite tea room before it was the Las Olas Cafe.

Hmm, I have some wino friends coming down soon that I want to meet somewhere- I'll have to get Abby to find out more and fill me in!

Lulu - I think we need to investigate....the menu/tapas looks great and the prices are decent. I think we should do a dry run so we can respond from an educated view point. We just need to find time when you're not traveling!

BTW - great seeing you the other night. I loved our M&G and so happy we had the time to enjoy everyone's company. How can we do this on, at least, a quarterly basis?? We have such a great group of DEs. How lucky are we??

The menu looks wonderful. Caponata is one of my favorites and cheese plates with wine. Small plates are fun too because you can order several and share. Maybe we can do a meet up there after the holidays. We can skype Sue and Chris so they can join as well.

Have your people call my people and let's see how our schedules mesh for the last week in Oct, first of November- we have to find two nights- one for our long "overdue" other dinner and this one- or is this place open for lunch maybe as well - I forgot to look.. besides I have a marvelous box of chocolates that DE Sue left for you and if I don't get them to you soon I can't be responsible as John loves ours and will have to be kept from starting to eat yours ! .Anyway , I agree with you that getting all five DE's together to drink and carouse was a marvelous idea and even with our other guests added it just got better! My John understands now why I spend too much time on the Forum ! It was so nice that TA Dan from Headquarters came down- he is a really nice guy- the sort of guy you would want to bar hop with any time ( even in the rain)! But you were way at the other end of our ceremonial table , so we have lots of catching up to do!

Oops- that will be table for three ( at least) then... I suspect the wine cafe is going to become a favorite place- I see several tapas I like ( and maybe a cone from Kilwins after , please, please..)

Absolutely! I think a table for three (or four , or more!) sounds wonderful. I love the variety of cheeses too Pat.

Lulutoo/Abbysmemere: I was looking at old posts and see the two of you planned on checking out the Las Olas Wine Cafe last October. Did you make it there, and if so what was the verdict on the wines and food?

thanks

I never got there with the other DE's , however, I was down in that area twice with other friends and both times walked by with the thought of trying it and was rather put off by a shill at the door trying to usher in business- it did not look at all busy when all the places around them were. It is a bit of a secluded place built around an interior courtyard- so maybe they are forced to do that- but I know in most places I travel a tout at the door is a bad sign... I'll poke around and see if I can find any reputable reviews.

We ended up at our old faithful Mangos just a few doors down- they have happy hour til 7 and we made a great dinner of wine( $2/glass discount) and half off appys- they were very busy.

This is a review done bya 'professional blogger" that gives some information- though I will say that in some other cases I have not been in agreement with his opinions of places- the wine card thing is not very common here- though I do know a handful of places that do it.

His bottom line seemed to be that it was overpriced even for Las Olas Blvd.
