 Yesterdays Restaurant Fort Lauderdale Fl.

Does anyone remember Yesterdays Restaurant on the Intercoastal in Fort Lauderdale? We used to go there often in the late 70s and early 80s. There was an excellent club upstairs. We were in Laud. in January 2008. It was closed. In April of 2009, it was demolished. :( What is there now? There is video of the demolition on U-Tube.

There is absolutely nothing there now- just a big empty lot. So sad- we loved it too! We also loved the nighclub there years ago called One Up. The bartenders had wild multicolored curley wigs and the show band was fabulous.

I think many families here miss both Yesterdays and Gibbys- two places that were always mobbed for family celebrations like birthdays , anniversaries and Mothers /Fathers Day.

Thank you so much! I have been trying for 2 years to find out what happened. It really IS sad. We loved that place. I lived in Laud. at the time and we loved to go to One Up. I wonder why such a famous and enjoyable venue closed after all those years. If you get a chance ,you can see the demolition on UTube. Someone cared enough to video it coming down.

There were so many wonderful places back then, but I guess I'm part of the "over the hill crowd:. Tks. again.

I took a young lady there for our first date together years ago. We ordered a drink each before our meal, and hers had a cherry in it. She took the entire cherry in her mouth, ate the cherry, and tied the stem in a knot inside her mouth just with her tongue. Check please!! It was great. Miss it, and sort of miss her too. She'll read this.

Christopher's is in the same block, but it isn't where Yesterdays was. According to LuLu, Yesterdays location is now a big empty lot. In the late 70s and early 80s we would have a couple of drinks at Christopher's and then walk down to Yesterdays for dancing and more fun. We had dinner there several times as well. Really sad to hear it closed. There was also a private dining room upstairs. It was extra special to have dinner there.

Beautiful place. Will miss it.

That does take a special talent. I Never learned how to do that. Maybe you should give her another chance? There are so many special memories of Yesterdays and all of Fort Laud.

Spent many evenings there in the early 80's while on business in Ft. Lauderdale. Travelling there this week - sorry to hear it's gone - wanted to vist. Yes, the multi-colored hair of the bartenders upstrais was unique. I also remember they had great prime rib and shrimp scampi in the restaurant. It may have changed later, but the "private restaurant" referred to in an above comment was a French restaurant when I was there. The "One Up" had loud music and very noisy - amazing thing - behind the padded door of the restaurant you couldn't hear any of it. Great French Cuisine and, at least when I was there, a jazz harp player for entertainment. Your table was reserved for the evening and curtains could be drawn around the table for privacy. Expensive ($110 for 2 with a bottle of house wine in 1984), but very, very good food.

I'm so very sad to hear this. I was hoping to make a trip back to Lauderdale this year and go to Yesterday's. My family celebrated my 16th birthday there, and I will be turning 40 this year. My friends and I had dinner there before our Prom at Cardinal Gibbons. I am shocked to hear that it was demolished - it was so beautiful. With all the sparkling lights, I always thought of it as one of the few magical places in South Florida.

I remember Yesterdays, I was a bartender there from 1979 to 1985. You are referring to the club upstairs that was called the 1up. We used to wear the colored wigs and the white jump suits and the waitress'es wore the white wigs with the earning that lit up. Im sure I've probably served you cocktails sense I worked 80+ hours a week. It sure was a great spot. It sure was a great time.
