“ Summertime trip to Colorado ”

We are a couple going to be flying into Denver, renting a car and heading for Snowmass in late July. We have every expectation that we will stop along the way at a reasonably priced accomodation. We intend to stay with a friend when we arrive in Snowmass. Has anybody got any recommendations for places - not too out of the way - for an overnight stay?
