“ staying in occidental,ca: restaurant recommendation ”

Hi Everyone,

I'm staying in Occidental, CA for the weekend and wanted some restaurant advice. I prefer a maximum of a 30 minute drive. I don't exactly want to waste my time driving far and not being able to enjoy my stay. I hear the Bistro de Copains in Occidental is nice. And also The Duck Club in Bodega Bay, but read mixed reviews about it.

I am celebrating an anniversary so I'm looking for a romantic but not a "fancy" place that I will be asked every so often to see how I am doing. Nothing like The French Laundry or anything. Casual but not too casual that everyone is wearing jeans and a t-shirt. Just a nice place to spend dinner with my other half.

If anyone has any advice I really appreciate it. Thank you in advance.

Probably too late for you to enjoy this trip, but Rivers End in Jenner is where you want to go. It has the best view anywhere, excellent food, cozy and romantic. And, it's within 30 minutes of Occidental.

I like Zazu, but it might be a bit on the casual side for you. Maybe the Farmhouse in Forestville?

Not a suggestion for your anniversary dinner, but the Underwood in Graton has an interesting bar with some creative cocktails.

VERY sorry I never saw your post until today, but I hope during your stay you discovered the 2 excellent restaurants right in Occidental: Bistro des Copains and Pignoli. They're both loc'd on the main st. (Bohemian Hwy) and offer superb cuisine, great service and a wonderful, relaxed "upscale country" ambiance. Diners come from all over the County--and beyond--to have dinner at both of these establishments!
