There is not much to see from Siliguri to Paro, except maybe coupla places around Phuentsholing and then around Wangdue Phodrang..
to the best of my knowledge and remembering power, that is.
You can get a comfortable Bhutan government managed bus from Siliguri to Phuntsholing which is the border place between India and Bhutan. You can get the bus opposite to the Tenzin Sherpa bus station.
Once you reach Phuentsholing you can look for the Taxi parking and than make a deal to go to Paro the next day after processing your route permit. I am sure the Taxi drivers will have the ideas in processing the route permit. You need to carry your voting card to process the route permit.
You can spend few days in Thimphu and Paro. To proceed to Wangdue and Punakha, you need to apply for special permit at the Immigration in Thimphu.
We would be reaching Phuntsoling around 12 Noon. We will have Entry Permits made from Kolkata. So, there is no need to stay at Phuntsoling for getting Entry Permit and we can straightway start for our next destinations.
Can anybody help us with the
1. Bus Timings from Phuntsoling to Thimphu and/or to Paro starting around 12 Noon?
2. Bus fare(Coaster or similar) from Phuntsoling to Thimphu and to Paro
3. Can these Bus Tickets be booked in advance? Is there any contact phone number for booking office?
Thanks & regards
1. The last bus will go at 2 PM from Phuntsholing to Thimphu
2. It would be around Rs. 200
3. Some one should go there personally to get the tickets. They don't accept any phone bookings.
